The Power of your new name! By Dr. Kluane Spake

YOU GET A NEW NAME

“My name is Judy, J. U. D. Y.!” I insisted to my kindergarten teacher  on the first day of school. I snickered behind my missing front teeth…  while some of the other kids were crying about being left at school, but I had a big plan! And so “JUDY” is what they called me. Nobody ever questioned it.

Judy was my favorite name from my mostest special childhood book, “Judy and Jiggers.” That book went along everywhere with me — it was about a cute little girl who lost her little white dog.

Of course, my Maltese Terrier dog was “Jiggers” and I was Judy. Anyway…

It all went smoothly until months later when my mom came to pick me up after school. She asked for her little four-year-old, and no one knew whom she was talking about… because Mommy didn’t know that I had changed my name! Everyone at school accepted it. I became a different person with that different name.

So then, I had to train my folks to call me Judy. And surprisingly, they thought it was funny that a four year old would go to such subterfuge to change her name.  Afterall, I really didn’t have a name before that. It was always, “Honey,” “Sweetie,” or “Sugar!” My mom thought my name was too long for a baby to use. After awhile, after continued insistence, hey went along with it. It wasn’t until going to college that I desired to use my real name. And, life and identity changed again.

The discovery of the meaning of my real name unwrapped identity and destiny. In the early days, my dad went to Alaska to mine for gold. In the summertime, he would mine and in the winter he delivered mail by dog team up into the Yukon. My dad packed a stove on his sled and went out for weeks at a time through the forsaken wilderness of ice and snow.  The end of his route was Kluane Lake. This lake and mountain range (the largest lake and highest mountains in the Yukon) was his favorite place in the  whole world! My real name (Kluane - Clue-ah’-nee) means “deep blue water” in Athabaskan Indian. Or, “Fisher (of) men in deep blue water.

Discovering why he gave me that particular name changed the aspect of my life and my goals.

I’ve always been extremely thankful that my dad didn’t like Klukwan lake as well!

Your name has great meaning and helps to shape your identity. Many studies show that your first name determines much about your interactions with society.

Far more impacting than our earthly name, is the fact that the Lord gives us His covenant name. We must not take it lightly! In this Third Day Church, we  understand that we have a NEW name! We become Christians or “little Christs.” Of course, the word Christian is derived from the word Christ that means the “Anointed One.” It’s our Christ-like name that changes our concept of who we are - little anointed ones - like Him! Declaring His name over ourselves reshapes our IDENTITY and reveals our legacy.

Right now ask the Lord to give you the revelation of what being a Christian really means.

Adam was given the ability to name all the animals (Gen. 2:19). This action shows authority and creative dominion.

In the Fall, the first couple lost many things - one of them was that they lost their ability to name and define creation.

In the Old Testament, God’s NAME was so precious and holy that it was not ever spoken.

In the New Testament, we know that if we believe in His NAME, something wonderful happens. (John 1:12-13)! “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become CHILDREN OF GOD- ……BORN OF GOD.” NIV

God calls us by NAME - it is the name of Christ that is called.

Our new God given name stands above all names. Incredibly, He gives to those who bear His name, the right to use it everyday. We can boldly approach the Father because we bear His  Name. This is an EXCHANGE of identity. This imiraculous nterchange presupposes that we’ve given up our old autonomous life. In finality, we discover what our new name delivers every promise. Because of Jesus, we become heirs of all things along with Him. Christ-ian. Our partner is the Person who opens the heavens and gives us everything that pertains to life and Godliness.

There’s unlimited power in that most precious name. Jesus said that whatever we ask the Father in His name, He’ll give it to us (Jn. 14-26). In honor of this exchange, we promise to represent Him here on this earth. His name opens the treasuries of heaven for this dying world.

Teach us Lord, to understand and to apprehend this privilege of bearing Your awesome name.

Laughing Toward a Happy, Abundant, and Meaningful Life

Dr. Kluane Spake http://kluane.org, spake@mindspring.com

In the beginning was the Word (logos, Jn. 1:1). Logos can be understood to mean “the word, speech, or conversation” such as when God SAID, “let there BE.”

Another long lost implied Greek definition of “logos” in this context is that it means telling a joke! Well– that idea makes me happy just to think about. It forces me to look at life from a different vantage. It causes me to consider how much the Lord God wants us to be happy. Even within this idea contains a hint of how life should be.

From original creation, God’s cosmic laughter still resounds. Can you hear it?

Laughing from the beginning shows that God unconditionally accepted us right off the bat. In spite of our mistakes and pratfalls. We were created for HIS pleasure (Rev. 4:11). Yes! God actually created us to freely be joyful — that makes Him happy too! The reason we get confused about the meaning of our lives is because we forgot that God gave us a choice to be joyful WITH Him. The spiritual flash point of creation seems to be pleasure and joy (both for God and for us).

Augustine, John Chrysostom, and Gregory of Nyssa (early church fathers) spoke of how God played a surprise joke on the devil when He raised Jesus from the grave. Since earliest times, Protestant Easter sermons started with a joke. The Greek Orthodox Church sets aside 24 hours of continuous joking and humor because of the joke of Resurrection. The Greek Orthodox Church named Easter laughter “Risus Paschalis” (Segal 2001, 24). Dante’s most famous work was called the “Divine Comedy.” Dante told about how the nearer we get to heaven the wider the smile, and the greater the laughter.

Those who followed St. Francis of Assisi were so outlandishly happy about their salvation they were compared to jesters, street comics, circus performers and were known as “le Jongleur de Dieu” or the tumblers of God.

Laughter is the first thing that babies learn to do. The quality of our abundant life depends upon being able to laugh and find joy. Learning to laugh again is a major factor of greater internal enlightenment and vitality.

Most believers take life too seriously, they have the stoic part figured out - they think they need to be aesthetes to walk in God’s favor. There’s kids, careers, deadlines, pressures, degrees, disappointments, relationships, and endless demands. Do you view life as abundant or a prison sentence? Many of us may need a “Laugh track” to accompany our life — just to recognize what is joyful.

As the saying goes, “Laugh and the world laughs with you. Frown and they think you’re a Christian!”

We spend the first twelve months of our children’s lives teaching them to walk and talk - and the next 12 years telling them to sit down and shut up.” Phyllis Diller

The first mention of laughter in the Bible is when God told Abraham that he would be a father and Sarah, his 90 year old wife, overheard the conversation and laughed. Perhaps we know the story to well to see something else? What if the name Issac (Laughter) was chosen because Sarah’s laughter was from the astonishment of the promise? What if Laughter became his name to remember that moment of discovery? Surely her gladness was unimaginable. Her conception was a miracle.

This response caused a spiritual portal of release and acceptance of the impossible promise! Then, they named their son “Isaac,” and his name meant “laughter.” And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me” (Gen. 21:6).

I like to think about the conversation in that family. “If I told you once, Laughter, I’ve told you a thousand times., quit the rowdy laughter, Laughter. Sit down and stop laughing - be still.” “Laughter, be serious.”

Now, imagine taking Laughter (the child of promise and hope) to the mountain to sacrifice him. Genesis 22:5 “I and the lad (Laughter) will go yonder; and we will worship and return to you.” Did he laugh all the way there? Here, offering up Isaac (Laughter) by pulling a knife up to slay him according to God’s command is called “worship.”

The average Believer thinks of the Sunday morning “Worship Service” as singing music with your eyes closed and both hands in the air. But, the worship Abraham was talking about is “Shachah ” which means to yield and prostrate oneself in reverence. It’s giving everything in joy, trust, and expectation!

All the all the fancy music, all the processional banners, all the graceful dancers, and all the preaching in the world cannot make worship happen. But willing sacrifice with laughter IS worship. There was no promise of reward, no recompense - just do it. No wonder there was a ram in the thicket! It epitomizes the response to authentic worship!

Ask the Lord to show you how to worship in the dimension of joy and laughter - allow His Love to spill out all over you. After all, God sits on His throne and laughs (Ps. 2:4). We’re sitting next to him on His right side.

Why would our latest revivals contain so much Holy Laughter? Because laughter heals us. Laughter spontaneously connects us one with another. People rarely laugh alone. it gives us a shared sense of understanding the world - the essence of the awareness of life.

I had a pastor friend who made me laugh. Sometimes I would fly long distances to minister for him - and he always was outlandishly funny. Laughing with that church made that place one of my favorite places to go. Laughter is a healthy response that provides us with a mini-vacation from stress and difficult emotional situations.

The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.” Mark Twain

Laughter is the great communicator. It is a witness of our faith, even in hard times. You can’t be unhappy and laugh at the same time. Laughter is a joy INSIDE - it is both a physical and an emotional experience. It is a magnet that draws others to us. It creates relationship bonding. It is contagious and often uncontrollable.

Friendships are only as memorable as the history of laughs together!

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

HEALTH - Countless advantages of laughter are said to help health issues. According to the August issue of Ode Magazine, some of

· heart and stroke risk.

· People who laugh seem to have longer attention spans.

· Immune cells become more activated. It helps us fight disease.

· Laughter cleanses the body of cortisol. (Cortisol is the stress hormone that deposits fat in the abdominal region of the body.) Laughter eases anxiety.

It reduces chronic pain and these are as follows:

· Laughing increases blood circulation. It pushes blood and oxygen though the coronary arteries.

· Laughing is calming. It releases an endorphin rush that produce pleasure sensations.

· Endorphins reduce damage to the increases pain tolerance.

· It adds higher levels of melatonin to breast milk of mothers and reduces fetal eczema.

· It reduces inflammation thought to be linked to heart attacks, allergies, and arthritis.

· It is an escape from stress and emotional situations.

· It causes better respiration function.

· It invigorates hormones called “catecholamines” that raise an alertness of our present moment in time.

· It keeps us from becoming bogged down with the circumstances of life. Plus it burns more calories than worry. Laughter helps control stress.

· Many cancer centers use laughter (old movies, etc.) as a coping and curing mechanism.

· Gastronomical troubles are thought to be related to uncontrolled anxiety.

· Stress is related to damaged endothelium (inner lining of blood vessels - arterial stiffening) that leads to heart attacks. Athens Medical School published results that confirmed the beneficial effects of laughter on arterial stiffness.

· Japanese research shows that laughter helps stabilize blood sugar in diabetics.

Peter said in Acts 2:25-28:  ”I saw the Lord always before me.  Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad (leaps for joy) and my tongue rejoices. –You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.”

So try these experiences just for fun. Make the sounds.

EXISTENTAIL laugher: Subdued wary laugh in seemingly uncertain or inappropriate times.

GIGGLES: Contagious response.

CACKLE: Cartoon villains, comic scoundrels, and evil entities.

CONTEMPTUOUS: Scoffing ridicule at those in authority or power. Contemptuous, bullied, or scornful response to idea or person who is deemed worthless.

NERVOUS laugh: Awkward moments, nervousness.

SOCIAL laughter: General invitation to collectively relate socially.

CHUCKLE: Briefly acknowledge comprehension of joke, pun, or event

BELLY laughs: Involuntary explosive response. Guffaw, chortle, or snort.

We are told in Scripture to not be filled with foolish talk or crude joking (Eph. 5:4). While inappropriate humor seems to be rampant these days, we want to laugh WITH God. We are told to not overly jest or mock, but it is wonderful to be happy, amused, celebrant, rejoicing, and smiling.  The Third Day Church will be one of laughter. God even laughs at the enemies of Israel (Ps. 59:8). Israel praised God for the gift of laughter (Ps. 126).

My friend, laugh joyfully at appropriate times and put your trust in the Lord and His Word — nd you will have abiding joy and a leaping up of the Holy Spirit in your heart. There is certain victory in Christ that is accompanied with eternal rejoicing and laughter.

Heb. 12:2 says, ” Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross.” Jesus could endure with joy because God’s people have the last laugh that never ends.

Selah –

The number one problem in the Church today is that believers don’t fully know our identity. Can we learn to laugh and be joyful over who God has made us to be.

My friend, the Lord says, I have called and chosen you to live in these Strategic times. The weariness is lifting off your expectations as the door of understanding opens your eyes. It’s time for expansion within. It is a time of uploading and activating all that you have learned. Broader vistas await. There is a positional shifting everywhere you go, get ready to receive the true JOY of your salvation!

Great and unexpected truths of extraordinary magnitude unveil as your identity in the Lord is more firmly established. From today, your life and ministry are energized. You are released to reap the provisional harvest.

EAT MEAT!

EAT MEAT!

htttp://kluane.org spake@mindspring.com

Every day I make great effort to eat more vegetables — and less red meat.  In fact, eating meat is regarded as dangerous by lots of health conscious dieters these days. You know what they say - heart healthy foods reduce blood pressure and lessen heart attacks.

But, spiritually speaking — it’s time to for us to eat some meat!

Spiritual Vegetarians don’t get it! There comes a Divine time when we must serve and eat meat! Keep your shirt on (keep your waist girded), keep the lights on! Be vigilant! When you don’t expect Him, the Son of Man (the Christ, The Human Being) shows up! (Lk. 12)
What is the milk and meat of God’s Word?

Paul told the Corinthians that because they were carnal (babes, natural people)  he fed them with milk and not with solid food (1 Cor. 3:1-2). The Holy Spirit teaches comparing spiritual things with spiritual (combine spiritual truths with spiritual language). Spiritual people discern and judge all things; they have the mind of Christ (the Anointed One, 1 Cor. 2:13-15).

Statistics say the Sunday morning church attendance is  lessening. Perhaps you wonder, as I do, why many of the churches are not growing as they should? Maybe it’s that everyone is more busy. Maybe it’s because we want to go on vacation. Blame the television or the devil if you must… but, maybe it’s because everyone is getting tired of milk.

The writer of Hebrews rebukes the readers for their unsatisfactory progress,  “You ought to be teachers by now. I have a lot to say to you, but your hearing is dull and sluggish. You need someone to teach you the fundamentals once again. If you only drink milk you are childish, unable to speak (unfit to bear weapons, metalambano  is word play for someone not yet fifteen). Strong MEAT  is for the believers who have exercised their senses to DISCERN (increase their capacity and potential) good and evil (from Heb. 5:14-15).

We ask again, what is spiritual meat?

Understanding spiritual milk could bring perhaps bring understanding about meat. “Milk” is a spiritual metaphor that refers to the basic doctrines and understandings of Christianity: salvation, resurrection of the dead, and the judgment, etc. Milk is what is necessary to begin to walk in salvation. We must always be aware of those who still need milk.

MEAT takes our understanding beyond our initial concepts. This is called “maturity.” Meat is for those growing up (Gal. 3:7).  As we grow, our concepts about basic fundamental doctrines expand and develop. For example,  baptism. We learn that baptism is commanded for the remission of sins ( Acts 2:38, 8:34-39,  6:31-33, etc.). Paul shares with the Romans how baptism symbolically demonstrates Christ’s burial and resurrection (Rom. 6:3-7).  And later we learn that we are already baptized WITH Him, buried with Him, raised with Him, and are already seated with Him. Meat is progressive current Truth.

Those that still live by milk alone are “unskillful in the word of righteousness.” (v 13)  Sure milk is necessary for some, but as believers become “skilled” concerning the Word of righteousness, they need MEAT.

FACTS:
Any meat you eat must first be cut into bite sized pieces in order for you to swallow it.  Your molars masticate (gnaw, chew, and crush) meat and then it is mixed with saliva and swallowed. Then, stomach enzymes break down the meat. In digestion, your BODY chemically, physically, and biologically changes the structure and substance of “meat” as it moves past the intestines.

Nutrients can then be passed into your blood system and into your cells.

Meat molecularly transforms into being a NEW part of YOU.

It is called protein - a necessary building block for your lives. Meat transforms into a different state as it is digested - none of the original properties are the same.

What remains and is not transformed, must be eliminated.

Spiritual MEAT TRANSFORMS you into the image of Christ. The gnawing and chewing allows you to break down and digest His Word. Only the meat that is transformed will be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Paul tells you to be transformed (metamorphosed, changed completely) by the renewing of your mind. Why? That you may prove what is the WILL of God! Jesus told the disciples in Samaria that He had MEAT that they did not know — and His Meat was to DO the WILL of the Father (Jn).  You EAT to find and do God’s will.

Doing God’s will brings nourishment.

Keep in mind that Jesus is the Word of God - and He told the disciples how to abide in Him and have eternal life; “Whoever eats (chews, gnaws) my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is REAL FOOD and my blood is real drink. - The one who FEEDS (chews, gnaws) on me will live because of me. -  (John 6:48-59).  The disciples said, “This teaching is too hard?” Jesus answered, “These words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.” As a result of this statement, many disciples life.

Here’s the typical rub. Preach milk and fluff and pack out the house - or preach meat and not be “popular. “
Jeremiah warns, “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep…the LORD God of Israel is against the pastors that don’t feed His people; — but, I will set up shepherds over them which shall FEED THEM, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, says the LORD” (Jer 23:1-5).

“And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of MEAT in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find him so doing.  - He will make him ruler over all that he has” (Lk. 12:42-44). Notice that the faithful and wise steward serves meat in the right season, even when no one is watching. Serving meat defines stewards as wise and faithful!

Ezekiel warned about shepherds who don’t bring provision to their flock,  “Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?  –neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.  And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became MEAT to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.” (Ez. 34:2-5).

Did you get that? Shepherds should feed MEAT to the flock of God so that the flock is not scattered. If the sheep scatter, THEY become the ‘meat’ for ‘all the beasts of the field’ and are devoured.

Meat is heaven’s bread. It’s not oratory skills or brilliant scholarship. It’s having deep hunger to “Come and Dine!” (Jn. 21:12). When dining, what do we hear? Three times Jesus tells Peter to “shepherd and feed His lambs and sheep” (Jn. 21:15-17). Feeding the believer is a commission from Jesus Christ. You don’t have to ask - just go to your baby and feed it. Either babies eat and experience spiritual growth  and spiritual understanding or their growth is stunted and many die.

Why do we preach meat? Certainly not to “out preach” the next person. (Don’t you just hate those competitive preaching contests by those eager to have superiority!) Listen, MEAT is not about KNOWING more than someone else.  We’re not talking about intellectualism or scholarship. It’s NOT about political causes - not even just one. It’s not about hierarchy. It’s not about the latest fad, the currents, or trends. It’s not about becoming proficient in Greek or Aramaic. IT IS about delivering Truth and being able to protect the flock from false doctrines and ‘ravenous wolves.’

Meat is never served with arrogance - but with love and compassion.  It often needs to be tenderized before cooking. Sometimes your “strong meat” may cause someone to get a stomach ache and not be able to digest what you feed them. Putting too much on their plate at one time may even cause a unwanted regurgitation.

Hebrews tells us a remarkable Scripture differentiating the Old and New Covenant believers. No other New Testament book speaks about the details of this sacrifice discussed in Exodus 29.  “We have an altar, whereof they have NO RIGHT TO EAT which serve the tabernacle.”

This spiritual Meat could pertain to Old Testament symbols fulfilled in Jesus. “For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate” (Heb 13:11-13).

Selected priests would slit the throat of the animal sacrifice and catch the blood in a basin. Then he sprinkled that blood on specific furnishings of the temple. We remember how the High Priest of the Old Testament would enter the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement and pour out the blood of animals (beasts) on the mercy-seat.”

MEAT is a type of the sacrificial body and blood of Jesus who died as a ransom for us. God promises His new priesthood a “right to eat at a different altar.” There is an altar where some have no right to eat. The body and blood of Jesus qualifies us to eat the MEAT of this new day. Hebrews goes on to say that we can only “go on unto perfection (maturity)  if God permits” (Heb 6:1-3).

The bodies of the animals (beasts) were butchered and stored in a “storehouse” (Mal 3:10). Malachi called this MEAT the “tithe” that was given to priests as their inheritance. (Heb 7:5-9). This MEAT fed the priests and their families, the orphans, widows, and strangers who needed help (Deut 14:27-29). The tithe is a type of MEAT - we have understood it as milk and now it is meat. We become transformed as we become a tithe. We give with abandonment - totally of the substance of what we have become. Oh, the glorious liberty of becoming metamorphosized into the Likeness of God.

My friend, if there is any expectation for the emerging triumphal church, be assured that it will come from allowing the MEAT of God’s Word to transform us
Lord we entrust our lives to You and commit to preach the meat of Your Word. We boldly come to the altar, Your heavenly altar, with the revelation that we have the right to eat MEAT. .  When we see You, we’ll know You, because we will look just like You! (1 Jn).

Amen

You Might NOT Be Part of the Third Day Church - IF…

You really believe they drank Welch’s grape juice at the Wedding in Cana.

Your love to sing about being the wretch in “Amazing Grace”

Your definition of “fellowship” always involves cake and ice-cream (well maybe that one is true)

You still practice daily hopping so that you won’t miss the Great Escape.

You pray and prophecy only in King James English.

You rigidly hold onto old paradigms rather than “move with the Cloud” of present Truth.

You think worship is only music.

All your songs are endless, endlessssssssssssly slow, never endddding songs…

You set aside all discernment, in trade for what you hope is revival.

You settle on being poor and sick in order to be more “spiritual.”

You think the Saints Movement means that all leadership is wrong, bad, ignorant, and replaceable.

You believe that powerful prayers are only effective when screaming.

You think the devil is actually to blame for all your unfortunate circumstances and bad choices.

You practice Spiritual Warfare – which means that YOU must SHOUT until the Devil is defeated (even though that defeat was what Jesus already accomplished)!

You are more concerned with the continuous self-preoccupation of dying to self rather than Rising to the Newness of LIFE and bringing forth Abundant LIFE!

You think that great sermons are always long, loud, sweaty, and super-hyped up!

You think God’s presence only manifests as mystic, weird, and super-spiritual.

You teach that “The secret of success in God” is to always get totally “wacked out” in the Spirit!

You eat pizza and wake up knowing for sure that you are called to preach.

Are There Apostles Today? by Dr. Kluane Spake

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Dr. Kluane Spake

www.kluane.org – spake@mindspring.com

Are there modern-day apostles?

Acts 3:21 assures us that before Jesus comes again, a reformation and restoration will happen. This promised event will restore truths lost during the Dark Ages.

Over the years, we see how God has begun to restore major Scriptural truths. Several important truths that were lost have now been revealed. For example, “justification by faith” was reinstated by Martin Luther. This idea was first met as heretical. Now, today, everyone accepts this truth without question.

Did God restore the office of the Apostle? If so, what do they do? Who are they?

Ephesians 4:11-13 tells us that God gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. During this last fifty years, a great restoration of some of these Gift Offices has increased.

It was not difficult to embrace the evangelist, or the pastor/teacher. But… the prophet and the apostle have caused considerable debate. However, we can’t just accept three of these leadership offices without the others. Jesus Himself was the fullness of all these Gift Offices.

We may ask ourselves, “Why does God want to restore these Leadership offices?”

The following verse in Ephesians 4 tells us this reason: “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

These five leadership gifts were not simply given to do the work of the ministry, but to enable God’s people to do the work of the ministry.

Many say this era is over… however, verse 13 clearly shows us the required time frame for this kind of leadership: “UNTIL we all reach UNITY in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and BECOME MATURE, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

Well, obviously this “UNTIL” has not yet happened! The assignment of the Third Day Church is to bring forth the unity of faith or the knowledge of the Son. The Body MUST become mature. The Body Must attain the WHOLE measure of the fullness of Christ.

This leadership model did not end with the first century church! Scriptures never tell us that leaders were temporary or should end before this “UNTIL” was accomplished.

The apostle Paul spoke of “pressing on” to full maturity in the faith (Phil. 3:12-14), and not remaining as “infants, tossed back and forth” by the waves of life (Eph. 4:14). Because God values all of our parts equally, He gives us Apostolic leaders to bring growth and adulthood.

The Bible a never limits the number of Apostles to twelve! I Corinthians 15 (see also 15:5-7) states that after the resurrection, Jesus appeared to the twelve and then also to all the apostles (*** enlarge). This clearly shows us that that there were more apostles than the original twelve.

My soon to be released book on Apostolic Authority goes into detail here about these other apostles, such as Timothy, Barnabas, Junia, Andronicus, Apollos, Epaphroditus, James the brother of Jesus, Matthias, Mary Magdalene, Paul, Silas, and others.

Yes. The original twelve were singled out because they learned directly from Jesus and had on the spot training. They also saw Him as the Resurrected Lord. Others also saw Jesus Resurrected.

The Scriptures clearly warn us about “false apostles.” But, it doesn’t warn about subsequent apostles. This is a huge study in itself.

* What is an apostle?

* Why are they important to us now?

* What is their responsibility?

* How do modern-day apostles function properly?

* What do they do today?

* How do they accomplish their assignment?

The NUMBER ONE problem in the church today is this issue of proper leadership and government.

There is no subject in the church or the world more controversial than who (if anyone) should be in authority – and what should they do!

Because of the controversy about authority, this subject is usually avoided. But now, because of escalating times, there is a hastening necessity for us to think Biblically and to redefine the church in Biblical terms.

For the most part, proper Godly leadership seems to be missing from most churches.

Statistically, there is a decline:

  • In church attendance.
  • In fervor and dedication.
  • In overall morality
  • And a decline in the miraculous.

Effective apostles must emerge in this hour to recognize the issues, solve the problems, and discover God GENUINELY wants to develop His Church in this century.

The Lord waits for apostolic leaders to establish our authority IN HIM and restore His INTENTION and plan upon this earth. He waits for the BODY:

1. To come into unity (Jn. 17).

2. To have the knowledge of the Son

3. To speak forth the truth in love.

4. To be no longer children but mature (teleios) unto the Perfect Man.

5. To become the Holy temple where God can rest and dwell.

6. To come to the measure and stature of Christ.

7. To expand His Kingdom until the earth fills with His Glory.
